LAS VEGAS -- Two men have been charged with several charges connected to a carjacking, robbery and police chase early Monday morning.

Metro Police arrested 21-year-old Hugo Baldovinos of North Las Vegas and another young man who is a juvenile, on charges, which included robbery with deadly weapon, grand larceny auto, battery with a deadly weapon on a police officer, evading a police officer and attempted murder of a police officer.

According to police, the whole incident started just after midnight Monday when the suspects approached a couple stopped at Terrible Herbst gas station at Sahara Avenue and Valley View Boulevard.

The couple told police that one of the suspects asked them if they wanted to buy marijuana. When they told him no, he asked if they wanted to buy a gun. They said no to that offer, but the suspect pointed a gun at them and demanded their car. That is when a second suspect approached, demanding money and their car.

The couple let the suspects have their car and their money. The two men drove off. An officer spotted the car near Oakey Boulevard and Arville Street. He pulled the suspect over, but when the officer got out of his car to talk to the two men, they sped off.

That is when officers started following the suspects throughout the area. Police say at one point the suspects fired several shots at the pursuing officers and even rammed the stolen car they were driving into the side of a patrol car.

Police were eventually able to stop the men in the parking lot of the Rio Hotel and Casino. They were both arrested there.
