Las Vegas Woman Describes Being Attacked by Pit Bulls

LAS VEGAS -- A Las Vegas woman is recovering after an attack by three pit bulls Monday night.

The pit bulls killed Tracy Mischel's dog and bit her multiple times on the arms and leg. Mischel says some bites went to the bone.

Mischel told 8 News NOW that she was walking her two dogs in a neighborhood near Tropicana Avenue and McLeod Drive at around 5 p.m. Monday.

The three pit bulls surprised her and her two dogs. The pit bulls went after her dogs, biting and killing her Pekinese. She said every time she tried to pry the pit bull's jaws loose from her dog, the pit bulls would attack her.

At one point, she said she was dragged down the walkway by the pit bulls. She began to lose consciousness with the amount of blood lost, until a neighbor threw a brick at the pit bulls.

Mischel said one of her first concerns was her pets.

"My sister came to the emergency room and I said, first thing, 'how is he?' she said, 'he's dead.' I tried so hard. I wanted him to be alive, just some miracle," Mischel said through tears Tuesday afternoon.

The pit bills that attacked Mischel were found and taken by animal control. According to Clark County Animal Control, nobody has claimed ownership of those pit bulls.

Mischel will recover but she is the caretaker for her mother and has no health insurance. The family has set up an account to help pay for medical expenses. Anyone interested in donating can call Wells Fargo and ask to donate to Tracy Mischel's account.
