HENDERSON, Nev. -- Hundreds of new jobs are coming to Henderson. A major national credit card company is opening a new call center in the city.

Company leaders hope to put at least 1,000 Las Vegas valley residents back to work within the next three years.

The credit card issuer Barclays is moving into the old Zappos building here in Henderson.

It is a big boost for this area after thousands of Zappos workers left just months ago to move to offices downtown.

Barclays held a hiring fair Tuesday and company leaders say the Las Vegas valley is the perfect place to set up shop.

Lines of people filed into the Barclays job fair at Green Valley Ranch all looking to get back to work.

"If it is a brand new company and they are hiring over 200 people, that is 200 jobs," job seeker Quincy Davis said.

Job seekers like Quincy Davis appreciate that they get face time with hiring professionals.

"They can see you. How you are and ask you a couple of questions about your previous jobs," Davis said.

Not only did job seekers speak with hiring professionals, they also learned a little about company culture through a video and an information session.

"You want to work for a company that you can grow with and be positive. Everyone is positive and happy. It just makes everything a lot better," job seeker Irma Torres said.

Barclays is hiring all sorts of customer services positions for its new Henderson-based call center.

It is the company's first venture into the Las Vegas valley, and the vacant Zappos headquarters seemed like the perfect place to set up shop.

"We were looking for a place to add an operations center somewhere in the western part of the U.S. Henderson, Las Vegas area really resonated as the right place to be," chief of staff for Barclaycard Doug Villone said.

The empty building will be filled with at least 400 workers as soon a February and Davis hopes to be one of them.

"I have an interview tomorrow so it went good!" Davis said.

Barclays managers hope to employ 1,000 people like him within the next few years. The job fair lasts until 8 p.m., but people who could not make it can still apply by going to
