Black Friday Shopper Shot in Las Vegas

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS -- Metro Police are investigating an attempted robbery and shooting that injured a holiday shopper.

It happened around 9:45 p.m. Thursday.

According to police, a man purchased a big-screen television from the Target store near Flamingo Rd. and Maryland Pkwy. While he was trying to unload the TV from his car at a nearby apartment complex, a man approached and confronted him.

There was a struggle and the would-be thief's gun went off striking the victim in the leg.

The gunman left in what is being described as a dark-color sedan.

Residents at the Cambridge Towers Apartments describe a frightening scene Thursday night.

"I hear six big bangs," neighbor Kathy Benson said.

"I heard like bah bah bah!," neighbor Rex Sweeney said, "I heard this kid like screaming at the top of his lungs."

Witnesses say the TV was left in the street after the shooting.

"The gentleman let off about two rounds shooting the guy in his leg and he just hopped in the car and took off and he didn't even get the TV if you can see it's still sitting over there on the ground," witness Samson Barnum said.

The victim was taken to Sunrise Trauma with non-life threatening injuries.

Metro has not released a description on the suspects or their vehicle. An investigation is ongoing.
