(Oct. 7) -- An already heated race for Clark County Commission seat "F" is getting hotter. Negative advertising and verbal assaults have been flying from both sides.
A Boggs McDonald ad says, "Maybe it was his arrest for DUI. Or maybe it's from a restraining order..."
A Goldwater ad says, "I'm running for County Commissioner because far too little is being done to protect our quality of life."
Appointed Clark County Commissioner Lynette Boggs McDonald and Assemblyman David Goldwater are vying for the seat.
Goldwater says, "It's better that people know those things, what business you're in, how you make you're money, who are your partners when you're voting."
In the latest tactic, Goldwater released his personal tax returns from the last two years. "When she ran for Congress in 2002, she did not disclose her tax returns. I don't know if there's something to hide there." Goldwater says it's his way of opening the books.
Commissioner Boggs McDonald did not speak to Eyewitness News on camera, but released this statement. "Candidates for and members of the Clark County Commission are required to file financial disclosure statements. I have fully complied with the law and filed those documents in a complete and timely matter. This is just another attempt by Mr. Goldwater to avoid talking about his own record."
The advertising and maneuvering is all intended to do one thing: sway voter's minds. So how do voters in District F feel about all this posturing?
Voter John Dobson said, "Some of it seems slanderous, but it's all that way."
And voter Bill Knight said, "Be more positive. Focus on the solutions instead of badmouthing your opinion."
The residents EyewitnessNews spoke with want to see a good clean race. The question now is whether there's any time left for that.
According to Clark County's elections website, Commissioner Boggs McDonald is current on her financial contributions file.
