NHP Investigates Three-Car Crash at Blue Diamond and Cimarron Rd.

LAS VEGAS -- Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating a three-car crash along Blue Diamond and Cimarron roads.

According to troopers, the crash happened just after 5 p.m. Thursday in the same area where a 14-year-old girl was hit and killed this weekend. A vigil for that girl was going at the intersection when the crash happened.

Troopers say a Toyota Celica was traveling southbound on Cimarron Road when it crossed into the path of a pickup truck that was traveling eastbound on Blue Diamond Road. The impact forced the two cars into a third car that was stopped at Cimarron Road.

"I am just in shock I am still shaking I just can't even think straight," witness Jacey Hedden said.

As emergency crews arrived to take the injured away, many of the witnesses were seen sobbing and consoling each other.

Middle school students from Canerelli Middle School were attending a candlelight vigil for their classmate Helen Liu, who was hit and killed by a car at this very same intersection less than a week ago.

"It's really scary you never expected it," witness Miklya Harris said. "I just came here for Helen and now this."

All three people in the Celica were transported to University Medical Center, including a juvenile that troopers say was in critical condition.

The eastbound lanes of Cimarron Road are closed at Blue Diamond for the investigation.
