Veteran Events Around the Las Vegas Valley

There are numerous events going on around southern Nevada for Veterans Day on Nov. 11, 2013. There are also some discounts and freebies being offered.

Veterans Day Parade
The starting point will be in downtown Las Vegas at 4th and Gass Streets and the parade will end at 4th and Ogden. The parade starts on Monday at 10 a.m. Weather anchor Sherry Swensk will co-host the parade. There will be a live broadcast on Cox channel 96.

3rd Annual Las Vegas National Veterans Day Run
The run takes place at Floyd Lamb Park on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. There are three distances: a timed 1k run, a timed 5k run and a 1 mile family walk. Click here for more information.

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area
Visitors to Red Rock will receive free entrance on Nov. 9, 10 and 11th. The scenic loop is open daily from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Boulder City Veterans Day Memorial Event
Attend a memorial dedication to the seven Special Operations soldiers killed in Operation Anaconda on March 4, 2006. Boulder City is the hometown to one of the men. A service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11.

Laughlin Veterans Festival
The Second Annual Laughlin Veterans Festival returns to the shores of the Colorado River, Nov. 8-10. The three-day event will honor all those in the U.S. Armed Forces who have fought and fallen for their country. Gates open at 5 p.m. Friday. Click here for more information.

Honor Ride Las Vegas
The Honor Ride Las Vegas will take place Saturday, Nov. 9. Injured veterans and the general public can ride one of two distances - 39 or 75 miles - on a course that begins and ends at Mandalay Bay Resort. The ride starts at 8 a.m. Click here for registration information and other details.

UNLV Walk to Remember
The UNLV Office of Veteran Services and UNLV Student Veterans Organization will organize an annual Walk to Remember event honoring those serving and to honor soldiers who have died. The walk is on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. at UNLV's Pida Plaza in front of the student union. It is free and open to the public. Click here for more information.

Fabulous Freddy's
Fabulous Freddy's is offering free exterior car washes to veterans on Monday.

Red Robin
Red Robin restaurant is offering a free burger and fries to all veterans and active duty military on Monday, Nov. 11. Click here for more information.

Station Casinos
Free buffet for veterans and active, inactive and retired military on Monday, Nov. 11. You must present a boarding pass with a valid military ID. Click here for more details.

South Point Casino
South Point is offering veterans a free buffet for two to all active and retired military on Monday, Nov. 11. Can be used for breakfast, lunch or dinner. A military ID is required. Click here for more information.

California Pizza Kitchen
All veterans and active duty can get a free pizza (dine in only) on Monday, Nov. 11.

TGI Fridays
In honor of Veterans Day, veterans and active duty service members can enjoy a free lunch on Monday between 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Click here for more details.

David Saxe Productions
In honor of Veterans Day, David Saxe Productions is offering discounted show tickets for veterans and active duty military members during the week surrounding Veterans Day. From November 11-18, active duty military members and veterans can show their military IDs at the V Theater or Saxe Theater box offices inside the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood and say, "I'm a vet" to get $25 tickets (all taxes and fees included) to V-The Ultimate Variety Show, VEGAS! The Show, B-Beatleshow and Recycled Percussion. The code can also be utilized over the phone by calling 702-260-7200.
