LAS VEGAS -- Clark County Undersheriff Jim Dixon spoke Thursday about the officer-involved shooting that left an unarmed man hurt.

According to police, on Oct. 21, Officer Jason Evans was on patrol near Nellis Boulevard and Stewart Avenue when he thought he spotted a person who matched the description of a double-homicide suspect from the night before.

Police say Ofc. Evans noticed the man he thought was the suspect go into a 7-Eleven store. As the officer walked into the store, the man walked out. The officer drew his weapon and ordered the man to come out of the store.

The man, 30-year-old Antoine Hodges, did not listen to the officer's repeated instructions to show his hands, police said.

Hodges then reached into his back pocket and Ofc. Evans fired. Evans shot Hodges once in the abdomen. He was treated and released.

Officer Evans is on paid administrative leave while the investigation continues.
