LAS VEGAS -- A convicted child murderer was arrested Monday in Las Vegas for parole violations.

Eric Zessman, 59, was convicted of second-degree murder in the death of a child in Carson City in 1976. Since 1981, he has had six parole releases and in each case he has become a fugitive or committed another crime, according to the Division of Parole and Probation.

Zessman was arrested after law enforcement received a tip of his whereabouts in Las Vegas. Officers said Zessman attempted to flee and jumped over several fences before he was taken into custody. Zessman was considered an armed and dangerous fugitive and had appeared on the division's Most Wanted web page since 2006.

He has been booked into the Clark County Detention Center on the fugitive parole retake warrants.
