LAS VEGAS -- A newly formed group, Nevada Host Committee, plans to make a formal bid to hold the 2016 Republican National Convention in Las Vegas.
"Las Vegas is the number one convention destination in North America. We do it better than anyone else in the country," Nevada Lt. Governor Brian Krolicki said. "We believe this is a tremendous opportunity for Las Vegas and all of Nevada."
The Nevada Host Committee will be led by Jack St. Martin who has held several prominent positions with the Republican National Committee.
"It's exciting to be a part of this effort. Las Vegas makes perfect sense for the GOP Convention," St. Martin said. "Las Vegas knows how to host something of this magnitude and Nevada's diverse demographics make total sense for the GOP to come here."
The committee has launched a website LasVegas2016.com.
