NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. - A disabled viewer says there aren't enough crosswalks at the intersection of Centennial Parkway and N. 5th Street.
He says the lack of a permanent signal or crosswalk makes crossing streets in the area dangerous, especially for someone like him who is confined to a wheelchair.
The City of North Las Vegas was using temporary, construction-style traffic lights, instead of permanent lights, in this area.
The city used temporary lights instead of permanent lights, because much of the surrounding land is undeveloped. More development brings greater traffic flow which warrants permanent lights and traditional crosswalks.
The good news is city officials say they plan to install a new permanent traffic signal and crosswalk by spring 2014.
