LAS VEGAS - Drivers say traffic light problems cause gridlock on the Silverado Ranch Boulevard exit from southbound Interstate 15.
The intersection of Dean Martin Drive and Silverado Ranch Boulevard west of I-15 typically experiences high traffic volume as many vehicles exit the highway.
The signal timing has already been adjusted to accommodate this traffic. Five traffic lights in this area are coordinated during the afternoon rush hour. This seems to handle traffic going east on Silverado Ranch. Westbound traffic on Silverado Ranch Boulevard is a different story.
Most vehicles exiting I-15 to go west on Silverado Ranch turn left on Dean Martin. Because only one left turn lane exists from westbound Silverado Ranch to southbound Dean Martin, traffic backs up onto the Silverado Ranch off-ramp from I-15.
This is a pain, but relief is on the way. The Cactus Interchange, done next fall, will divert and redirect south valley traffic - spreading cars around and taking pressure off St. Rose Parkway, Blue Diamond Road and Silverado Ranch Boulevard.
