LAS VEGAS - A giant dirt pile near Vegas Valley Drive and Hollywood Boulevard is driving some motorists crazy, because it has prompted lane restrictions.
One driver says the pile could be pushed out of the road and into a nearby empty lot.
In reality, it can't. That giant dirt pile is not a pile at all. It's the natural terrain of the land, and, therefore, cannot be pushed back into the open lot.
The driver is also concerned about speeding in this area. This section of Hollywood sits between two high schools: East Career and Tech Academy and Las Vegas High School. Teen drivers often speed through this area to and from school.
Traffic8 found since the dirt hills are not near an intersection, they are not causing cross-traffic sight obstruction. Warning markers dot the edge line where the road narrows to one lane. Traffic8 forwarded the speeding concern to Metro Police, which may increase enforcement.
This road will likely be improved and widened once the empty lot is developed. For now, however, the hills remain and will not be leveled.
