LAS VEGAS - A viewer says Robindale Road between Las Vegas Boulevard and Bermuda Road is in desperate need of four-way stop signs. The road currently contains two-way stop signs.
The viewer says the speed limit on this stretch of road is 35 miles per hour, but most drivers travel well above that, turning this quiet street into a race course.
Stop signs, however, are not designed to control speeding. Traffic volume, turning movements, and crash history determine which intersections receive stop signs. This stretch of Robindale is considered a rural zoned neighborhood with mostly unimproved streets that are one lane in each direction. The street does not include paved shoulders, curb, or sidewalks.
As a rural preservation area, this is how it will stay.
Traffic8 contacted police to see if they can increase enforcement in this area. That should help reduce speeding. Additionally, residents will have the opportunity to speak directly with Metro Police at the department's First Tuesday event November 5.
