LAS VEGAS - A viewer says the lack of crosswalks at the intersection of Blue Diamond Road and Durango Drive is dangerous for children trying to cross the street.
Nevada Department of Transportation officials reviewed this intersection and determined the traffic signal currently does not have accommodations for the addition of pedestrian heads on the poles.
While these can be added or modified, this likely will not happen in the near future.
NDOT studied this intersection and found the current pedestrian counts are fairly low. Typically, a crosswalk is installed when, during a four-hour period, 75 or more pedestrians cross at the intersection.
NDOT only counted 16 pedestrians during the four-hour period in both directions on both legs. So, the changes are unlikely to happen any time soon, but Traffic8 alerted Metro Police for possible increased enforcement of the area.
