Portion of Patriot Act Ruled Unconstitutional

(Sept. 30) -- The portion of the controversial Patriot Act that allows for searches of Internet and phone records has been declared unconstitutional. In the ruling, a district court judge in New York said maintaining a citizen's personal security is just as important as preserving national security.

The justice department will likely appeal the ruling. This is the second time a judge has ruled that part of the Patriot Act unconstitutional.
