LAS VEGAS - A large dirt pile at Fort Apache Road and Warm Springs Road is driving some motorists crazy. They say construction is causing the pile to get bigger.
Clark County officials conducted a field check of the area and discovered the developer has a grading permit to work on this lot. Grading the lot ensures surface drainage is directed away from buildings and neighboring properties and toward a natural drainage area, drop inlet or storm drain.
Officials don't, however, want the grading process to cause conflicts or collisions due to lack of visibility. This dirt pile was doing that. Drivers couldn't see each other.
The Clark County Building Department, which issues grading permits, notified the contractor of the visibility concerns. As a result, the contractor removed the dirt pile, opening sight lines and decreasing the danger. The dirt pile is gone.
