LAS VEGAS -- Metro Police are investigating an accident that left a 2-year-old with serious injuries.
They say around 6 p.m. Sunday, a mother was driving home with her child in the back of their SUV. The child was sitting with the bicycles and not riding in a car seat.
The mother stopped at the intersection of Russell and Palm, near Mountain Vista. When she accelerated the hatch of the SUV flew open and the child and bikes fell out.
The 2-year-old started running after the SUV when another vehicle hit the child. The child was taken to Sunrise Hospital with a broken femur and some serious facial fractures. The child underwent surgery Sunday evening.
Metro Police say they have not decided whether or not to cite the mother in this incident. Speed was not a factor in the accident. The crash remains under investigation.
Metro Police say it was this time last year that they started seeing a spike in deadly motorcycle crashes. A woman is facing life-threatening injuries after she was involved in a motorcycle crash Sunday evening at Arville and Russell. Vanessa Murphy reports.More>>
