LAS VEGAS - A viewer says a crosswalk is badly needed on Durango Drive at Dorrell Lane. The viewer says it's an unprotected intersection that lacks a signal and crosswalk.
City of Las Vegas officials said they would not support adding a crosswalk without a traffic signal or flasher. Traffic volumes and speeds are too heavy along Durango for just a marked crosswalk. The city says that would give pedestrians a false sense of safety.
The good news is since the city doesn't want to install a crosswalk without a signal, crews will add both.
Plans are underway to install a traffic signal at this location. Once that is installed, crews will add the crosswalks. Construction of the traffic signal and crosswalk will begin in four to six months.
