LAS VEGAS - A viewer says a large dip has developed on northbound Las Vegas Boulevard near Spring Mountain Road and wonders if crews can fix it.
This dip in the road is the result of a water line leak under the Strip. Roads react poorly to moisture. When water gets down to the base, the base gets soft, asphalt is affected, cracking can occur and potholes emerge.
The Las Vegas Valley Water District first made repairs to the leak. County inspectors then contacted the water district regarding the dip. Las Vegas Valley Water District officials said the repair work was scheduled for August, but rainy weather delayed the repairs.
The weather has since improved, and crews have repaired the dip. Drivers should be happy about this fix and the smooth ride it will create on the Strip.
