Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS -- A North Las Vegas man has been sentenced to five to 15 years in prison on two counts of attempted murder for shooting and wounding a North Las Vegas police officer.

Christopher Burcham, 24 of North Las Vegas, was sentenced Wednesday in connection with the shooting that happened March of last year. He plead guilty to all charges against him earlier this year.

Burcham was involved in a domestic situation at a home near Clayton Street and Centennial Parkway. When police arrived, Burcham refused to come out of the house and fired a shotgun several times at the officers.

One officer was hit and seriously hurt. Burcham eventually surrendered to police.

The sentences for attempted murder will be served consecutively.

He was also sentenced to one to five years for possession of a firearm by an ex-felon. Those sentences will be served concurrently to attempted murder counts.
