Metro Officer Shot and Injured with His Own Gun

LAS VEGAS -- Metro Police have released more information about the officer who was shot during an incident Friday evening.

According to police, the officer had been called to a burglary in progress at a plumbing business near Tropicana Avenue and Decatur Boulevard about 10:20 p.m.

When officers arrived, they were allowed into the business by the owner.

Officer Frank Harris quickly found and arrested one of the suspects. While Officer Harris was trying to take the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Joshua Paulo of Las Vegas, to his patrol car he started fighting with the officer, police said.

During the struggle, Officer Harris was shot in the thigh, with his own gun. The injuries are not life threatening.

A second suspect was also arrested, trying to leave the scene. He is has been identified by police as 19-year-old Dylan Dybeczynski of Las Vegas.

The suspects told police they broke into the business to steal copper and other equipment.

Paulo has been charged with attempted murder, resisting arrest, grand larceny and auto burglary.

Dybeczynski is being charged with burglary, auto burglary, obstructing a police officer and grand larceny.
