LAS VEGAS -- People still struggling to file for unemployment claims will get another Saturday to call the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.
The department announced Friday that its call center will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The center is for people who need to speak to someone about issues with their claims.
People who need to file weekly or initial claims are urged to use the internet and leave the phone lines open for those who need to speak to a representative. The department is also asking that people who have filed, not call to check their status, allowing the phone lines to stay open. The southern Nevada number is 702-486-3387.
The department has been struggling to help people and make payments after problems with a new computer system surfaced more than a week ago.
According to DETR, more than 90,000 claims have been filed since the new system went online Sept. 4 and more than 64,000 payments have been made.
