Man Arrested in Deadly Double Shooting

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS -- A Las Vegas man is under arrest in connection with a deadly shooting Tuesday, Metro Police announced Friday.

According to police, officers arrested 29-year-old Elias Ramirez-Lopez Thursday on charges of murder with a deadly weapon, attempted murder and battery.

Ramirez-Lopez is accused in the shooting death of 46-year-old Jeffrey Craig Hand. Hand's body was found in an apartment on Lynnwood Avenue near Sahara Avenue and Joe W. Brown Drive at around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday.

A second man was also shot but his injuries were not life-threatening.

Police say Ramirez-Lopez and Hand were in an alleyway with a group of people, when a fight started. The suspect pulled out a gun and shot the two victims, police said.

Community activists are holding an anti-violence rally at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at 2575 Van Patten Street, near the area where Hand was shot. Metro officers and community leaders will be there.
