LAS VEGAS - A viewer says the intersection of St. Rose Parkway and Bermuda Road needs a traffic light, especially as more businesses move into the area.
This is a busy intersection, which sits east of the I-15 and the M Resort. The area includes high-speed traffic to and from the I-15, lane shifting and a large number of commuters. Only a stop sign regulates traffic, however, at St. Rose and Bermuda.
As you enter eastbound St. Rose, you encounter four lanes of traffic with the afternoon sun limiting visibility of St. Rose drivers - most of whom travel 55 mph or greater.
The City of Henderson agrees that a signal is needed to avoid that kind of risky driving. City officials are securing federal funding through the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement program to pay for construction.
Due to the unusual angle of Bermuda as it approaches St. Rose, a signal bridge will be necessary to locate the signal heads over the correct lanes. That will require some time to implement.
The city also must obtain Nevada Department of Transportation permits prior to bidding and awarding the project.
This light will happen, but it will take some time.
