LAS VEGAS -- The woman arrested in connection with the shooting death of her roommate told police that he raped her, and she shot him because she didn't want him to do it again.

However, police said she never reported a sexual assault.

Metro Police arrested 26-year-old Mary Pitrello on charges of murder, and robbery.

Police responded to an apartment complex near Warm Springs Road and El Capitan Way just after 9 p.m. Thursday night on a report of gunfire.

When officers arrived, they found a man dead in a bedroom in an apartment from an apparent gunshot wound. Police identified the victim as Oliver Doppert.

A witnesses told police that two women were seen leaving the apartment. According to the arrest report, one of the women threatened the witness with a shotgun as she was leaving the scene.

According to the arrest report, Doppert went into his bedroom, closing his door. He then called his girlfriend. While he was on the phone, Pitrello grabbed a shotgun and shot at Doppert through the bedroom door.

Police found Pitrello at the Stratosphere Hotel and Casino and arrested her.

After her arrest, Pitrello told police that Doppert had raped her a week earlier and she didn't want him to do it again. However, Pitrello did not report a sexual assault to police and continued to live with Doppert.

Police also say Pitrello spend the evening drinking with Doppert at the apartment complex pool.

Doppert's girlfriend told police that Doppert, Pitrello and Pitrello's friend, Stevie Lynn Bast, had been drinking together at the pool. Doppert had taken Pitrello's keys away from her so she would not drive. He also told her that Pitrello had a gun and he was afraid she was going to kill him.
