Man in Custody After Erratic Police Chase

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS -- A man is in custody after an erratic chase through the western part of the Las Vegas valley Thursday afternoon.

According to Metro Police, the incident started at about 12:20 p.m., when an unmarked Metro unit noticed the suspect driving recklessly on southbound Rancho Drive near U.S. 95.

Officers tried to pull the car over, but he refused. Las Vegas Fire and Rescue got involved in the pursuit at one point, following the driver to Craig Road and then over to Rainbow Boulevard. Police tell 8 News NOW that the driver was driving all over the road and making unsafe U-turns.

Metro's Air Unit was called to help with the chase. They followed him to U.S. 95 and Summerlin Parkway, where the vehicle stopped.

Officers tried to take the driver into custody, but they say he resisted arrest and fought with police. He was eventually restrained and was tested for driving under the influence.
