LAS VEGAS -- A Clark County Detention Center officer was hurt in an attack by someone who walked into the jail from off the street, Metro Police confirmed.
According to police, around 10:20 Wednesday morning, someone walked into the security room near the jail lobby with a baseball bat and hit the corrections officer.
Police say the officer was taken to the hospital, but his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
The suspected attacker was taken to the hospital and treated for an unrelated medical issue.
Metro's Violent Crime Unit is investigating.
Visitation to the detention center has been suspended for the afternoon.
