LAS VEGAS - A viewer asks when crews will pave an unpaved section of Valley View Boulevard between Blue Diamond Road and Mesa Verde Lane.
Valley View is currently paved from Warm Springs Road to Mesa Verde for residential access. The road ends at Mesa Verde, because county officials say the area between Mesa Verde and Blue Diamond is designated as a rural neighborhood preservation zone.
That means homeowners went through a process with the town board and stakeholders to get this designation. It must be an area that is low density (two homes per acre) to preserve that rural feel. The designation waives certain improvements such as sidewalks, streetlights or paved roads.
The concern of residents is that opening Valley View through to Blue Diamond would bring heavy traffic, including commercial vehicles, from the area north of the 215. The community doesn't want this.
Many homes in the area were built in the early 1970's. Neighbors want to keep that rustic feel, so Valley View will not connect to Blue Diamond.
