LAS VEGAS -- A local contractor accused of not finishing work he was paid for is hiding from authorities and the state contractor's board needs help finding him.
8 On Your Side has been investigating the contractor for weeks and has exclusive information on the latest developments in this ongoing investigation.
8 On Your Side first learned about Joseph Castanon Sr. and Joseph Castanon Jr. from an alleged victim. That victim actually created a website to share his personal experience with both men. The men were part of a company called American Wholesale Flooring.
The victim, and others, said the duo bids on projects, took deposits, but never came back to do the work.
On Sept. 4, Joseph Castanon Sr. was arrested at the state contractor's board headquarters. Henderson Police and Nevada Highway Patrol arrested Castanon Sr. on a warrant for gross misdemeanor charges allegedly related to contracting without a license.
When 8 On Your Side asked Castanon whether he took money and didn't do the work, he replied, "That was my son Joseph Castanon." He said he was being arrested on a case that his attorney didn't process. He offered to meet with 8 On Your Side at a later time so he can exonerate himself.
His son, Joseph Castanon Jr. will be added to the Nevada State Contractor's Board's Most Wanted list.
"His son Joseph Castanon Jr. is still at large ... and the son does have two misdemeanor warrants out for his arrest so the public should definitely be cautious and aware of American Wholesale Flooring or any bids or advertisements coming from that company as they are still actively seeking contracts," said Jennifer Turner with the Nevada State Contractor's Board.
One of the alleged victims believes Castanon Jr. is in Utah. If you too have had business dealings with either man, call 8 On Your Side at (702)650-1907.
