At the tender age of 6, today's Wednesday's Child has already had one broken adoption placement. But there's no chance of that happening again, because he's a guy with so much potential. Dave Courvoisier introduces us to Christian.
When we arrived at the Kids Play Cafe in Henderson, the place was already bustling with a lot of kids Chris' age or younger, but after a couple of minutes to adjust, Christian was off to play.
"You know what he, he's super active, of course, he's six years old, he loves cars he loves the movies he loves to swim, you know, puzzles, he can sit and do puzzles with me for an hour and loves to fit everything together," says Susan, Christian's CASA worker.
Christian is also a smart guy. This week, he starts first grade, and loves to learn.
"...And has just blossomed the last couple of years, loves school, always seems to be a favorite of the teachers, loves to help out, really a good kid with a bright smile," adds Susan.
But Christian carries a history of disappointment he'd like to leave behind.
"I think he has (struggled with trust issues) but he's had two very good foster placements where they were experienced they worked with him, and we as a team have been together for a long while and so he's got a great team behind him." claims Susan.
Christian understands about adoption, and has a simple hope:
"You know Chris told me his wish list on our way here today and he said I was explaining to him why we were coming in what we were doing, and he said you know I would like a mom and a dad and an older brother. "Sky is the limit with this kid I think you know, he's very bright, when I talk to him he's you know got a great spark in his eye and he is a terrific kid I think really the sky is the limit with the right home and the right nurturing I think he can go as far as he wants to go," says Susan.
