LAS VEGAS - A viewer says the
intersection of Christy Lane
and Harris Avenue
is dangerous, accident-prone and in need of a four-way stop. The viewer says
the intersection's proximity to two nearby schools increases the danger.
This is a Clark County
intersection. In May 2012, Traffic 8 helped launch a study for a four-way stop.
The county studied accident statistics and counted vehicles during peak and
light travel times to get an accurate look at the traffic volume. County
researchers also analyzed the direction with the most traffic.
They completed that
traffic study last summer and determined the intersection does not meet the
criteria for a four-way stop or traffic signal.
Most of the vehicles
travel along Christy. The study also determined there were not enough accidents
at the intersection to warrant a change. Sight distance also met requirements.
The county will not be
installing a four-way stop at this intersection anytime soon, but Traffic 8
reached out to the county which plans to conduct another study in the fall.
