LAS VEGAS - The 2013-2014 school year starts Monday. The Clark County School District is taking steps to ensure parents get their children to the right bus stops at the right times.
Many parents registered weeks ago for bus service. Even with the early registration, the first day of school can be hectic and cause unexpected delays.
CCSD officials say more than 100,000 kids will take the bus to school Monday. That means delays could occur in the first few days or weeks of the new school year.
If you registered your kids for bus transportation, you should already have your routes and pick-up times on hand.
The best advice from school officials is to get to the bus stop early and pack a lot of patience along with those healthy lunches for your children.
"It's inevitable, you know, with traffic in town. People who are new in town, buses are going to run late morning and afternoon, which we tried to do our best. Things will smooth out after the first couple of weeks," said CCSD Transportation Operations Manager Jim Reynolds.
If parents still have any questions on the bus service or if you still need to register your child for the bus, it's not too late. You can call the transportation center anytime Monday. There will as many as 30 operators manning phone calls. Operators will arrive as early as 6 a.m. Monday.
You will need your child's student number and birth date.
