LAS VEGAS -- The Clark County School District and Clark County Education Association announced Friday a tentative labor deal for 2013-2014 school year. The tentative agreement is subject to ratification by the CCSD Board of Trustees and CCEA membership.
"We are glad to have a tentative agreement in place before the beginning of the school year to provide our teachers with peace of mind as they start their work in the classroom," said CCSD Board of Trustees President Carolyn Edwards.
"This agreement is a continuation of the growing collaboration between the district and CCEA, and we believe it will enhance education for the district's 312,000 students and their teachers," said Vikki Courtney, CCEA president.
The labor deal is the first reached between the two sides in the past three years. The contracts for the 2011-12 and 2012-13 school year went to arbitration, with the teachers winning the former and the district the latter.
