NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Clark County Coroner's office has identified the man killed when he was hit by a commercial bus Thursday morning as 77-year-old Pablo Azila Sandoval of North Las Vegas.
His cause of death is still pending.
According to police, the bus driver was trying to avoid hitting a car, which had abruptly stopped in front of him, and swerved into the path of Sandoval who was crossing the street outside of a crosswalk.
The crash happened shortly after 5:30 a.m. at Cheyenne Avenue and Clayton Street.
The 72-year-old bus driver and the eight occupants of the bus were not hurt. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, police said. It is not known if the driver will face any charges.
This is the ninth traffic-related fatality in North Las Vegas this year.
