MT. CHARLESTON -- Several weeks after it ignited, the Carpenter 1 wildfire has finally reached 100 percent containment after Sunday's rains.
However, the Kyle Canyon Picnic Area suffered damage after debris flows caused by the heavy rain hit the area. Several roads are covered with gravel, and debris up to a foot high has collected around tables at individual picnic sites.
No injuries have been reported.
No visitors were affected since the former campground is currently closed for re-construction.
Four new fires ignited by lightning were detected in the Spring Mountains Sunday afternoon. Initial attack firefighters are on scene working to put out these new blazes, all of which are estimated to be less than one-tenth of acre.
