LAS VEGAS -- School starts in less than three weeks but more than 20,000 kids in southern Nevada are still not registered for school bus service.

Clark County school leaders are issuing a warning: just being registered for school does not mean your child is signed up for the bus.

To get your child on one of these buses, CCSD transportation managers are trying to make things easier.

With thousands of calls coming into the transportation call center, managers say it can be much easier for parents to use CCSD's website. Wait times at routing information call centers can sometimes exceed 30 minutes.

"All you need is your student's ID number, date of birth and if your student is registered for school and registered for transportation, the routing information is there and available," said Frank Giordano, CCSD Director of Transportation. "Please don't wait until that last weekend before school starts. We can only handle so many calls a day right now is a good time to call."

The district is also installing kiosks at various Wal-Marts and malls across the valley to help parents.

CCSD is also hiring 50 more bus drivers. If you would like to apply for one of those jobs or learn more about your child's bus route, go to
