(Sept. 14) -- A rally to protest President Bush's speech was held just outside the Las Vegas Convention Center. Protesters started gathering at 11:30 a.m. Many were carrying cardboard cutouts of the letter "W" and are chanting "W is wrong for today."
The Nevada Democratic Party organized the protest outside of the convention center to coincide with the President's speech inside at the National Guard Association Convention. A Democratic Party spokesperson says it wants to draw public attention to what it calls a series of lies by President Bush.
The Democrats maintain that Bush has misled the American public into believing Iraq was involved in the 911 attacks and that the Iraq war is going well. And many of these protesters who are veterans say they are angry that Bush lied about his National Guard service record.
Fortunately, the protest was peaceful as the group exercised its First Amendment rights.
