White Cross Market Reopens This Weekend

LAS VEGAS -- A new downtown business is combining Las Vegas history with a basic necessity.

The White Cross Market, 1700 Las Vegas Blvd. South, is set to officially open Saturday, bringing customers something they have been asking for a year. It is open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m.

Only days into its soft opening, the market is generating a lot of buzz in the community.

"We've really needed (it), everybody in downtown needs a grocery store," downtown resident Hillary Haddock said.

The market is the brain child of Jimmy Shoshani, his brother Nick and cousin Rimon Hirmiz.

"We've been doing this since we were 10 years old," Shoshani said.

Combined, their family has a string of convenience stores and 30-plus years of experience.

Shoshani said with the support of the family, they wanted to push the boundaries of their business.

"It's time to retire our dads and take over the family business and take it to a whole other level," Shoshani said.

The market offers anything you would see in a full size grocery store: organic produce, a deli and old-fashioned customer service.

But not everything is new.

"We are able to take these old buildings, for example, this place is from 1955, and rejuvenate it," Shoshani said.

Photos provided by Las Vegas photographer Nick Leonard show the building's history.

"When you walk in here, you would never think this building is over 60 years old because of the love that's been put into this place. All the hard work," Shoshani said.
