LAS VEGAS - A viewer says since the City of Las Vegas worked on traffic lights at Main Street and Owens Avenue, the left turn signals have stopped operating.
A few weeks ago, the traffic signal at Main and Owens started randomly flashing red. The city found defective wiring in the conduit caused a problem for left turn arrows.
City crews temporarily turned off the left turn arrows to pull new cable. During this period, no left-turn arrows were displayed. It's possible the viewer traveled through this intersection during this period.
Since the new cable was installed last week, left-turn arrows have been working. On July 16, a technician verified the proper operation of the traffic signal. The light's sensors detected all vehicles making left turns, and the arrow appeared whenever a vehicle was present in left-turn pockets.
