LAS VEGAS -- A former prosecutor who handled high profile drug cases involving celebrities is dead Wednesday, possibly of a drug overdose, the I-Team has learned.
David Schubert was the Chief Deputy D.A. for Clark County and personally oversaw the drug possession cases against socialite Paris Hilton and singer Bruno Mars, among others. His career came to an end in 2011 when police spotted him buying crack cocaine in a rough neighborhood of Las Vegas. Schubert briefly went on the run to Mexico but returned to face the charges and was sentenced last year to nine months in prison.
Law enforcement sources say his body was found Wednesday morning. There are indications he might have died of a drug overdose, though the coroner has yet to make a final conclusion. We will have further details later today.
Metro Police say it was this time last year that they started seeing a spike in deadly motorcycle crashes. A woman is facing life-threatening injuries after she was involved in a motorcycle crash Sunday evening at Arville and Russell. Vanessa Murphy reports.More>>
