(Sep. 8) -- The Republican race for Senate District 6 had been a knock-down, drag-out fight for months between incumbent Ray Rawson and challenger, Assemblyman Bob Beers.
Beers upset Rawson with 56-percent of the vote. Rawson's campaign manager conceded the race a little after 10 p.m Tuesday. Beers tells Eyewitness News if he wins the general election, he wants to review Nevada's education system and possibly split up the Clark County School District.
"Clearly something is broken and I think Republicans are willing to be more daring with potential solutions and Democrats have been embracing the status quo session after session," Beers said.
Rawson declined to be interviewed about his loss. No Democrats are running for Senate seat in District 6, so Beers will face Independent American candidate, Cathie Lynn Profant, in the general election.
