I-Team: Deputy Constable Arrested at Strip Nightclub

LAS VEGAS -- A deputy constable has resigned her position following her arrest at a Las Vegas Strip nightclub over the weekend.

Sources tell the I-Team that a dispute between club security and the deputy's companion – a fellow deputy constable -- ended with Metro Police being called.

The I-Team spoke with a representative from the constable's office who confirmed that Allison Lear resigned her position effective immediately and her companion that night, Jason Watkins, is under investigation.

However, Watkins, a key employee in the office and the founder of the Las Vegas Law Enforcement Academy, remains on duty.

According to Metro Police, officers responded to a call from security late Friday night at the Hakkasan nightclub at the MGM.

Sources told the I-Team that Watkins and Lear were questioned by security about why they were there.

The constable's office claims Watkins insisted he was at the club to serve a felony arrest warrant.

Those types of warrants however are not typically served by constables.

Ultimately, Metro Police instead served an outstanding warrant on Lear for forgery, perjury and filing a false instrument. She was also charged with having drug paraphernalia in her possession.

The felony charges against Lear relate to an alleged scam to claim she was married to a man who died in a race car crash.

According to police reports, she forged a marriage license to try to take control of his estate after his death. As a result, investigators said his funeral was delayed for months at great heartache to his family.

The constable's office said it's not clear why the warrants did not show up on Lear's pre-employment background check or during a recent Brady background check to purchase a handgun.

The office expects to have its internal investigation into Watkins completed in the coming weeks.
