LAS VEGAS -- The Clark County School Board has recessed tonight's special superintendent search meeting for 7:30p.m. Tuesday night.
The school board listened for five hours to public comment from teachers and parents who voiced overwhelming support for interim superintendent Pat Skorkowsky.
Other public comments included members from the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce that want the district to look outside the state just to make sure there isn't a better candidate.
"Just get on with it and hire someone from within," Clark County School Board Trustee Deanna Wright said. Well, I think part of the problem could have been I don't know that people couldn't understand that kind of a search firm might be needed either way."
The district has been taking public comment and holding town hall meetings for almost a couple of months ever since superintendent Dwight Jones announced his departure.
The school board will not take any more public comment and should decide on whether to move forward with a national search or keep it local.
