LAS VEGAS - Laughter and smiles fill the assembly hall at Robert Taylor Elementary School. That's because stand-up comedian Michael Luongo, or Mr. L to the kids, is delivering his Stand Up for Kids show.
"The kids' faces light up. They're attention is on Michael the whole time. They're just eating it up," said Taylor Principal Janet Dobry.
"It's all about teaching kids character, life skills, which are core values," Luongo said.
Luongo travels the world as a full-time comedian. At night, his comedy is for the grown-ups. During the day, it's all about the kids.
Dobry brings back Luongo every year. His is a lesson she doesn't want to skip.
"Besides being funny, he has a great message about responsibility and getting along with others," she said.
"(What) I want them to take away is to have respect and love for yourself, and if you don't have those core values, that's when problems develop later on in life," he said.
