NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. - A viewer asks why the City of North Las Vegas uses temporary traffic lights at busy intersections, when permanent lights are needed.
The temporary lights can be seen at the intersections of North 5th Street and Centennial Parkway and Losee Road and Tropical Parkway. The city has used the temporary lights at these intersections for years with seemingly no end in sight.
Traffic8 has found the end of the road. City officials say they plan to install permanent traffic signals at each of these intersections within a year.
The city hasn't switched to permanent lights at these intersections because most of the land surrounding them is undeveloped. As more development occurs, greater traffic flow warrants permanent lights and traditional crosswalks.
Some also feel Losee Road is not wide enough to handle its current capacity. City officials say the road will get additional lanes within one year.
