LAS VEGAS - The expansion of the Warm Springs Road bridge has brought an increase in traffic. Pedestrians say that has desperately increased the need for crosswalks between Decatur and Valley View Boulevards.
A viewer points out one pedestrian died on Warm Springs at Hinson Street in January. Western Trails Park also sits along Warm Springs in the area, but no crosswalk exists to get to the park.
By law, legal crosswalks already exist at all public street intersections, whether marked or unmarked, just by the sheer fact they are intersections.
Clark County's pedestrian safety information adds, "At all crosswalks, both marked and unmarked, it is the pedestrian's responsibility to be cautious and alert before starting to cross the street."
Traffic 8 reached out to Clark County officials regarding the need for crosswalks in the area. County officials say they will study the intersections of Warm Springs at Rogers Street and Warm Springs at Arville Street to see if marked crosswalks should be installed. Traffic 8 will revisit this issue when the county releases its findings.
