The hope of every foster child is to get back to a normal life, with a loving permanent family.
Dave Courvoisier introduces us to tonight's Wednesday's Child: 8 yr old Amanda.
We're back at Sunset Park with Amanda, and last week's Wednesday's Child Hanna. Amanda did her best to keep up with her older friend on the jungle gym, but had more fun over with the water birds over at the lake.
Amanda is a very engaging young lady, with lots of creativity.
"You know what she has a lot of potential. Honestly I can really see. Theater, dance, acting, the arts, because she really enjoys that kind of stuff. I think she could really do well with arts and crafts," says Vickie, an adoption recruiter with DFS.
Amanda is in a wonderful foster home, but she knows it's only temporary.
"She has a home, she has people that care about her, they feed her she goes to school. She does have some activities that she engages in, but she is very aware that she does not have a natural normal family. And that's what she needs in her life," adds Vickie.
This young lady has siblings who are being adopted, and she wants to stay in touch.
"Absolutely key important is that she has two brothers and sisters and sisters they are amazing wonderful children who are being adopted by an amazing woman, the family needs to be willing to be a part of that's at whatever level they can participate they are amazing wonderful kids they all care about Amanda and love her, so the family needs to be willing to be part of that," explains Vickie. "A perfect family for her would probably be a two parent home, unless a single parent have a lot of time to dedicate."
Again, Amanda absolutely must have a family willing to let her visit with her other siblings. If you're interested in giving her the permanency she deserves, please call the Las Vegas office of the Adoption Exchange right now at 436-6335.
