Woman Dies After Being Struck by Truck In East Valley

LAS VEGAS -- A woman died after being stuck by a truck at the intersection of Boulder Highway and Indios Avenue about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday.

The female pedestrian was initially transported to Sunrise Hospital in critical condition with a skull fracture, brain bleeding, and a broken pelvis.

Metro Police said there were no other factors in play in this crash. Investigators said the driver was doing the speed limit, wasn't under the influence, but was just at the wrong place.

"I'm at a loss for words, I know that we as well as the media and all the other organizations are out there trying to put out to the public where they need to cross," Strader said. "We are literally a couple hundred feet just south of a marked crosswalk, that's well lit, and signaled so that it's a safe area for someone to cross."

The crash was avoidable and the woman was at fault in this accident according to Metro Police.

She succumbed to her injuries around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sunrise hospital.
