Cool at School: Henderson Educator LeRoy Chase

Posted: Updated:

HENDERSON, Nev. - LeRoy Chase has been helping students in Henderson for more than four decades. Chase influenced students for 42 years at two Henderson schools and was named Teacher of the Year three times before retiring.

While he did retire, he's back in the classroom – helping to open Pinecrest Academy. He spends his days smoothing out the bumps at this new school.

"There are a lot of young people who are great, great kids a lot of them," he said. "They're warm. A lot of them care. A lot of them acknowledge. Even if they're not doing well in class, they make you feel good by talking to you, by waving to you. They just make you feel good."

Leroy has not only been a wonderful teacher in Henderson, he's also lived in that city for 60 years. Friday, he will spend the day being the grand marshal of the Heritage Parade and Festival in Henderson.
